Browser extension · Local processing

I built TubeNotes to read captions already available on YouTube, show timestamps and chapters, and copy or export TXT, Markdown, SRT and VTT.

The work, in brief

Version 0.2.0 is publicly installable from the Chrome and Edge stores. No account or additional AI service is required; transcripts are processed on the device.

From watching to quoting

Read a transcript on a YouTube watch page, choose an available caption language and click timestamps to revisit a moment. When chapters are available, they organise both the reading view and Markdown export.

Availability and limits

TubeNotes uses existing YouTube captions; it does not generate missing captions or translate them. Transcript-panel fallbacks use the language actually displayed by YouTube.

TubeNotes is a later published product, separate from the eight early unreleased prototypes. The October 2026 check confirms public Chrome and Edge installations; Firefox has been submitted but a public listing has not been verified.
