What connects the work
I enjoy understanding a system well enough to do something with it. In software, that might mean fixing how an agent resumes a conversation. In research, it might mean tracing a company’s cash generation back to its operations.
Mathematics is a useful foundation for both. I’m drawn to problems where careful reasoning and a working implementation can inform each other.

Building an AI community at LSE
Selected as one of 40 students in OpenAI’s inaugural UK Campus Leads cohort. I co-lead the community at LSE for students across disciplines building projects with ChatGPT and Codex.

Beyond the syllabus
At Brighton, I led a CanSat team and served as editor-in-chief of From Stardust, the school journal. I received Gold in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge and placed in the global top 100 in FYKOS Physics Brawl.
Those activities combine several things I value: working through difficult questions, building with other people and communicating technical ideas clearly.

Leading discussions and helping others learn
At Prior Park, I led the Socrates Club from January 2023 to June 2024, organising and moderating more than 40 inter-school philosophical discussions on ethics, justice, science, religion and public policy.
I enjoyed questions without a standard answer. Do efficiency and justice always conflict? How should juvenile crime be treated? Moderating meant listening to competing arguments, asking for reasons and making room for quieter participants. I received the Best Facilitator award at a regional Philosothon competition.
I also provided more than 100 hours of mathematics tutoring for peers and younger students, served as a school and house prefect, and volunteered in educational support for children in Sichuan.

Away from the screen
I play Go at 5-dan level. The board on the homepage is a small invitation to spend a moment with a game that has been an important personal interest.
I also study classical singing and hold Trinity Grade 8. Music gives me a different kind of practice, one that asks for attention to phrasing, listening and performance.
I speak English and Mandarin at native level, and Cantonese at professional working proficiency.

Mathematics competitions gave me practice finding a way into unfamiliar problems. These are selected awards from my school years.
